Amber filament or smoked-glass bulbs read most cinematic of all, especially behind the Black or Brown Grey finishes.
How do I choose between the base and shade finishes?
Every base finish pairs with every shade finish — six combinations in total. Two starting points: Orange Red base + Black shade reads boldest, with the strongest gallery-installation feel; Brown Grey base + White or Pink shade reads quieter, more residential, and disappears into a layered living room. The shade always takes visual priority because of its dome height — pick that first, then choose the base to either contrast (drama) or echo (calm).
Which size suits a console vs. a side table?
Edition I (∅ 9.8″ × H 11.8″) is sized for side tables, nightstands, and shelves where it sits at eye level when seated. Edition II (∅ 14.1″ × H 16.1″) is the console-and-credenza scale — it commands a 50 – 70 cm wide surface and reads as a focal sculpture. Does the iron shade get hot during use?
