Frequently Asked

Before you order

Where in the room does the Alexa work best?
The long brass arc extends about 15″ (38 cm) from the wall and angles the shade slightly downward — designed first for bedside reading beside a headboard, but equally at home flanking a sofa, lighting a hallway alcove, or framing a vanity. Because it's hardwired and not articulated, choose its placement with the throw of light in mind: it casts forward and down, not up.
How high should it be mounted, and can a pair be hung either side of a bed?
For bedside reading, mount the wall plate roughly 50 – 55″ (127 – 140 cm) from the finished floor — this puts the shade just above shoulder height when seated against the headboard. For a balanced pair, place the two plates the width of the nightstands apart and at exactly the same height. Add two units to your order to coordinate.
Does it require an electrician to install?
Yes. The Alexa is hardwired onto a standard wall-box junction — there is no plug-in cord. A qualified electrician will mount the brass plate, connect line / neutral / ground, and seat the fixture in under an hour. If your wall doesn't have an existing junction box at the desired height, factor in basic wiring work alongside the install.
What bulb does it take, and is it dimmable?
A candelabra E12 or E14 base bulb, 40 W maximum, sold separately. We recommend a warm-white LED filament at 2700 K — it keeps the white fabric shade reading as soft ivory rather than cool. The fixture itself works with standard switches; for dimming, pair a dimmable LED with a compatible dimmer at the wall.
Can the brass arm be adjusted or repositioned?
No — the arc is fixed. Its silhouette is the design, hand-bent in solid brass to a single continuous curve. The shade direction is set by the geometry of the arm, which is why the lamp is best chosen with its throw of light in mind from the outset.
How is the white fabric shade cared for?
A soft, dry brush or a lint roller is enough for routine care. For occasional touch-ups, lightly dab with a barely damp white cloth and let it air-dry fully before powering back on. Avoid solvents and direct moisture. Used with an LED bulb at 40 W or less, the shade holds its tone for years.
Does it work outside North America?
Yes — the Alexa is certified for North America, Europe, Australia, and Saudi Arabia, and accepts AC 110 – 240 V universal voltage. Pair the bulb to your local socket standard.

The Solid Brass Lighting Collection

More Than a Light. A Metal That Breathes.

Solid H59 brass — hand-forged, never fades, only deepens with age. Built to last a lifetime and look better for it.

Explore the Brass Collection
Solid Brass · Better With Every Year

True Luxury Is a Material That Stands the Test of Time

Most "brass" fixtures on the market are zinc alloy with a thin copper coat — peeling within three years. Lumioshine uses solid H59 brass throughout: 59%+ copper content, twice the density, and a surface that only grows richer with age.

01 — Solid Cast
Solid Cast · No Plating. No Compromise.

The Weight in Your Hand Is the Truth of Real Brass

Lift it and you'll know. Every Lumioshine fixture is cast from solid H59 brass — uniform walls, dense and substantial. That weight is the material's most honest introduction.

Each piece is lost-wax cast, then hand-filed, polished and finished through at least twelve manual processes. No machine-stamped parts. Ever.

02 — Four Core Advantages

Why Choose Solid Brass?

In lighting, "brass" is widely misused. These four qualities separate the real thing from everything else.

Buy it once. It only gets better looking.

Solid Brass Quality
Never Fades

Improves With Age

Real brass oxidises naturally into a deep, rich patina over time. Ten years in, it looks better than the day it was installed — something no plated product can ever achieve.

Antimicrobial

Naturally Antibacterial

Copper ions continuously inhibit bacterial growth on the surface (Antimicrobial Copper certified). Ideal for bathrooms, dining spaces and any high-contact environment.

Restorable

Scratches Polish Out

Surface scratches or oxidation spots buff out completely with brass wax or fine-grit paper. A plated fixture is ruined the moment its coating breaks. Solid brass is not.

Structural

Dense. Strong. Stable.

At ~8.5 g/cm³, brass is denser than aluminium, more corrosion-resistant than iron, and structurally stable under heat. The weight you feel is quality you can trust.

03 — Colouring Process

Brass Colouring /Chemical Finishing

The Craft Logic Behind Every Colour

Brass colour is not paint — it's the result of chemical reaction, electroplating or mechanical treatment applied directly to the metal. The colour cannot peel: it is part of the metal itself.

Chemical oxidation (potassium sulphide, ammonia vapour, acid) produces warm brown to deep black tones bonded just 1–5μm into the metal lattice. Electroplating deposits nickel or chrome for cool, hard surfaces. Brushing alters light diffusion without changing the base colour.

Three Finishing Methods
Chemical Oxidation → Antique, aged brown, verdigris — naturally varied, each piece unique.  ·  Electroplating → Nickel, chrome, black chrome — hard, uniform.  ·  Mechanical Brushing → Satin texture, alters light diffusion.
04 — Finish Exhibition

One Brass. Six Entirely Different Personalities.

A finish is not just a colour — it's how brass interacts with light. Each surface treatment creates a completely different mood.

The classic. High-polished brass glows amber under warm light and develops a richer patina with use — the natural choice for French and neo-classical interiors.
