Featuring a round solid wood backplate and chrome metal hardware, the Emile Chrome Double Wall Sconce mounts two opposing bowl shades housing frosted white glass globes. The dual-shade construction diffuses light both upward and downward, providing soft, glare-free ambient illumination and functional accent glow. Constructed with a natural timber base, iron metal shades, and opal glass diffusers, this hardwired dual-light sconce delivers side lighting for bathroom vanity mirrors, hallway corridors, bedroom bedside walls, or entryway consoles. Its sculptural mid-century profile complements Mid-Century Modern, Scandinavian, Modern Organic, and Japandi interiors.

The two bowl shades face opposite directions — one casts light upward, the other downward — so the fixture is designed to be mounted with that orientation in mind rather than rotated to point both shades the same way. Wipe the wood backplate and chrome hardware with a dry, soft cloth only, avoiding ammonia-based or abrasive cleaners.

Before you order

Does it matter which bowl shade goes on top?
Yes — the two shades are designed for one facing up and one facing down, so getting the orientation right during installation matters more than on a typical sconce. Four steps:
  1. Cut power & confirm wiring. Switch off the circuit at your breaker and confirm the wall box supply matches AC 110 – 240 V.
  2. Mount the wood backplate. Secure the fixture to the junction box, then match line-to-line, neutral-to-neutral, and ground.
  3. Fit the bulbs. Thread in your two E12/E14 bulbs, one per shade.
  4. Attach the shades in their opposing orientation & restore power. Fit one chrome bowl facing up and the other facing down, then switch the circuit back on.
What does the dual, opposing-shade design actually look like lit?
One chrome bowl shade faces upward and the other faces downward, each housing a frosted white glass globe. Lit together, the pair casts a soft glow both up the wall and down toward the surface below — useful for side-lighting a mirror or console where you want illumination on both sides of the fixture rather than in just one direction.
What's the difference between the Wood Color and Beige backplate?
Both share the same round solid wood shape and chrome hardware. Wood Color shows the timber's natural grain and tone, leaning into the fixture's mid-century, organic character. Beige is a painted, more uniform finish that reads quieter and blends more neutrally against a painted wall.
Where does the Emile work best?
Its dual up-and-down glow suits bathroom vanity mirrors (often installed as a pair flanking the mirror), a hallway corridor, a bedroom bedside wall, or an entryway console — anywhere side lighting is more useful than a single downward or upward beam.
