The Inspiration

Two soft domes of glass, on a stem of polished chrome.

The Bombolo is a 1970s Italian-style table lamp drawn from the bedside-lamp tradition shaped by Murano glassmakers in the late 1960s and 70s — stacked rounded shades on a slim chrome cylinder, an honest little form that has quietly outlived every passing trend.

The hand-finished cased-glass shade is rounded twice, like a small macaron, and seated on a polished chrome base with a clean push-button switch on the cord. Small enough for a nightstand, sculptural enough for a console — a piece of warm 70s Italy made for American bedrooms, reading corners, and entryways.

Bedside & Nightstand

The Bombolo is sized for a nightstand. The push-button switch sits inline on the cord, easy to reach without leaving the bed. The white and beige shades work best for late-night reading.

Entry & Console

Set on an entryway console, the Bombolo greets guests with warm, low-angle light. The orange and red shades work especially well as a pop of color against a darker wood console.

Desk & Reading Corner

Compact enough for the corner of a writing desk or a small side table beside a chair. Diffused glass keeps the light soft on the page without the glare of a focused task lamp.

What bulb does it take, and is it dimmable?
A standard E26 or E27 base bulb, 40 W maximum, sold separately. (E26 is the standard US medium-base bulb, available at any home-improvement store.) Whether the lamp dims depends on the bulb you choose — pair a dimmable bulb with a compatible plug-in dimmer if dimming is wanted.
Plug-in or hardwired?
Plug-in. The Bombolo ships with a 59-inch (5-foot) cord and an inline push-button switch on the cord. It plugs into any standard US 120 V outlet — no electrician required.
How big is it, and where does it fit?
The Bombolo is small — ∅ 7.9″ × H 11″. It is sized for nightstands, side tables, console tabletops, and the corner of a desk. It is not large enough to be a primary room light; it works as accent or task lighting.
Which color suits which room?
The white and beige shades read as quiet and neutral, suiting most bedrooms and reading corners. The orange and red shades carry the lamp's 1970s heritage most clearly and work well as accent color in entryways and living rooms. Pink sits between the two — softer than red, warmer than white.
