Frequently Asked

Before you order

Should I choose the 2-light or the 3-light?
It comes down to the surface beneath. The 2-light (50 cm / 19.7″ across) suits dining tables of 1.2 – 1.6 m, kitchen islands up to about 1.5 m, and round entryway tables. The 3-light (70 cm / 27.6″ across) is built for tables 1.6 – 2.2 m, longer islands, and corridor stretches where you want a continuous rhythm of light. As a general rule, the fixture should sit shorter than the surface by at least 30 cm on each side.
How high above the table or island should it hang?
For dining tables and kitchen islands, the bottom of the shade should sit roughly 75 – 90 cm (30 – 35″) above the surface — high enough to clear sightlines across the table, low enough to keep the light intimate. For entryways and corridors with no table beneath, allow at least 2.1 m (7 ft) of clearance from the floor. The standard 15.7″ rod accommodates ceilings around 2.6 – 2.8 m; for taller ceilings, request a custom length at checkout.
Can the suspension rod be made longer or shorter?
Yes — the standard rod is 15.7″ (40 cm), and we cut custom lengths to order for stairwells, double-height entryways, or unusually low ceilings. Note your desired drop in the order notes, or contact us before checkout. The rod is rigid brass, finished to match the fixture; it is not field-trimmable, so the length you order is the length you receive.
How many bulbs does it take, and is it dimmable?
One bulb per shade — so the 2-light takes two and the 3-light takes three. Each socket is a candelabra E12 or E14 base, 40 W maximum, sold separately. We recommend a warm-white LED filament at 2700 K. The fixture works with standard switches; for dimming, pair a dimmable LED with a compatible wall dimmer — over a dining table it's what shifts the room from breakfast brightness to dinner glow.
Does it require an electrician, and does it work outside North America?
Yes to the first — the Alexa Pendant is hardwired to a standard ceiling junction box, so a qualified electrician will mount the canopy, level the rod, and hang the shades. And yes to the second — the fixture is certified for North America, Europe, Australia, and Saudi Arabia, and accepts AC 110 – 240 V universal voltage. Pair the bulbs to your local socket standard.
