How do I choose between the Green, Clear, and Amber glass?
Each casts a different mood onto the wall. Green is the signature — it reads as a jewel-like accent against brass and washes the wall in a soft, layered green at night, perfect for a romantic bedside or reading nook. Clear shows the rose embossing in sharp sculptural relief and projects a brighter, crisper light pattern — best where the brass and craft should remain the focal point. Amber falls between the two: a warm, candlelight glow that flatters skin tones and feels right over a vanity, in a hallway, or beside a chair where you read late.
What bulb makes the rose pattern look its best?
A clear filament bulb, E26 or E27 base, 40 W maximum. The embossed rose pattern is designed to refract a visible filament — a frosted or opaque bulb hides exactly what the glass is meant to catch. We recommend a warm-white LED filament around 2400 – 2700 K, in an A19, ST64, or G80 shape, all of which sit comfortably inside the bell. Bulb sold separately.
Can the drop height of the cord be adjusted?
Yes — the twisted fabric cord is freely adjustable up to 100 cm (39.4″), so you can set the drop to suit your wall. Hang it shorter beside a low headboard or above a vanity where the shade should sit just below eye level; let it fall longer in a hallway or stairwell where you want the bell to read as a romantic suspended jewel. The adjustment is made at install — once you've chosen the drop, the cord holds its position without slipping. Pairs flanking a bed should be set to exactly the same height for symmetry.
Each shade is hand-pressed — what does that mean for a matched pair?
Subtle variations are part of the craft, not a defect. Two Fiona sconces flanking a bed will read as a coordinated pair to the eye — the silhouette, dimensions, and overall colour are consistent — but a side-by-side comparison may reveal small differences in the depth of the rose relief or the precise tone of the glass, especially where it thickens and thins. This is the signature of a hand-made shade rather than a mass-produced one. If exact symmetry matters more than craft variation, this fixture isn't the right choice.
Does it require an electrician, and does it work outside North America?
Yes to the first — the Fiona is hardwired onto a standard wall junction box, so a qualified electrician will mount the brass plate, connect line / neutral / ground, and seat the fixture. And yes to the second — it is certified for North America, Europe, Australia, and Saudi Arabia, and accepts AC 110 – 240 V universal voltage. Pair the bulb to your local socket standard.
