Come può la luce essere allo stesso tempo un "alone" concentrato e "morbido, non duro"?
La forma ampia del cono invertito svolge entrambi i compiti contemporaneamente: il suo aspetto aperto rivolto verso il basso dirige la luce in un alone ben definito sotto il corpo illuminante, utile per un compito come la lettura, mentre il vetro stesso diffonde quella luce mentre passa attraverso — addolcendo i bordi del fascio anziché creare un cerchio duro e simile a uno spotlight. Ottieni una luce direzionale senza l'abbagliamento che produrrebbe una lampadina nuda esposta.
Le due dimensioni condividono la stessa larghezza e altezza — cosa cambia con la versione a 2 luci?
Solo la lunghezza, poiché la seconda luce estende l'apparecchio orizzontalmente piuttosto che aumentarne l'altezza o la profondità.
